PLC Connectivity
ProtoTwin Connect supports low-latency connectivity to industrial Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs).
Supported Protocols
Siemens S7
The Siemens S7 protocol supports connectivity to the following PLCs:
Support for connectivity to the PLCSIM and PLCSIM Advanced simulators will be added in a future release.
Ethernet/IP
The CIP (Class 3) Ethernet/IP protocol supports connectivity to the following Rockwell Automation PLCs:
- Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
- Allen-Bradley CompactLogix
- Allen-Bradley Micro800
- Allen-Bradley MicroLogix
The following PLCs may also be configured to support Ethernet/IP communications:
TwinCAT ADS
The TwinCAT ADS protocol supports connectivity to the full range of Beckhoff IPCs.
B&R Automation PVI (*)
The B&R PVI protocol supports connectivity to the full range of B&R PLCs and IPCs.
Omron FINS
The Omron FINS protocol supports connectivity to the full range of Omron PLCs and PACs.
Mitsubishi MELSEC
The Mitsubishi MELSEC protocol supports connectivity to the full range of Mitsubishi PLCs via the MX Component library.
Modbus
The Modbus protocol supports connectivity to a wide range of PLCs, including the full range of Schneider Modicon PLCs and Arduino.
OPC UA
The OPC UA protocol supports connectivity to a wide range of PLCs, including CODESYS-based PLCs.
